Accessibility Statement

This site is the portfolio of Nadav Alony, a visual designer and art director. I treat accessibility as part of the design rather than something added to it, and I want anyone — including people with disabilities — to be able to browse this site independently and comfortably.

Conformance status

This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. It also meets Israeli Standard IS 5568, which adopts WCAG at level AA and is the level required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility) Regulations, 2013.

The site has been assessed by manual testing of keyboard operation, semantic structure, contrast ratios, text resizing and reflow, and behaviour with assistive technology. It has not yet been audited independently by a certified accessibility professional. This statement will be updated when that assessment is complete.

Accessibility features

The entire site is operable by keyboard alone, including the main project feed, which scrolls with the arrow keys, Page Up / Page Down, Space, and Home to return to the start.
A clearly visible focus indicator marks the focused element at every step, and focusing a project scrolls it into view.
A "Skip to content" link at the top of the page bypasses repeated navigation.
Every button, link and activatable item uses the correct semantic role and has a name that screen readers announce.
All images and video clips carry text alternatives.
Dialogs (Contact, enlarged image) close with the Esc key, keep keyboard focus inside them while open, and return focus to wherever it came from when closed.
View changes are announced to screen readers, since the site does not reload the page when you navigate.
Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and interface components at least 3:1.
The site honours your operating system's reduced-motion preference, and a "Pause motion" control stops every animation and video clip. That choice is remembered on future visits.
Content that is not in English is marked with its own language so a screen reader pronounces it correctly.
The page can be zoomed to 200%, and reflows to a 320 pixel width, without loss of content or functionality.
Tested in Chrome, Safari and Firefox, on desktop and mobile.

Known limitations

Despite my efforts, some parts of this site may not yet be fully accessible. These are the limitations I am aware of at the date of this statement:

The text alternatives on project images identify the project and the image's position within it, but do not yet describe the content of each individual image. Writing full descriptions is in progress.
The site's opening screen is an animation in which the name is set as artwork. That name is also available as text to screen readers, and the opening screen is skipped automatically for anyone who has asked for reduced motion.
The video clips are silent and therefore have no captions. Each clip has a text alternative.
Some work is presented as a visual grid. All of it is also reachable through the "Index View" screen, which lists every project as an ordered, numbered list.

הצהרת נגישות (עברית)

הגרסה העברית של ההצהרה, בהתאם לתקנות שוויון זכויות לאנשים עם מוגבלות (התאמות נגישות לשירות), התשע"ג-2013.

אתר זה הוא תיק העבודות של נדב אלוני — מעצב חזותי ומנהל אמנותי. אני רואה בנגישות האתר חלק מהעיצוב עצמו, ולא תוספת לו, ופועל כדי שכל אדם — לרבות אנשים עם מוגבלות — יוכל לגלוש בו באופן עצמאי, נוח ושוויוני.

רמת הנגישות באתר

האתר הונגש בהתאם לתקן הישראלי ת"י 5568, המבוסס על הנחיות WCAG של ארגון W3C, ברמה AA — הרמה הנדרשת בתקנות. האתר עומד גם בהנחיות WCAG 2.1 ברמה AA.

ההתאמות נבדקו בבדיקה ידנית של תפעול מקלדת, מבנה סמנטי, יחסי ניגודיות, הגדלת טקסט והתאמת תצוגה, והתנהגות מול טכנולוגיה מסייעת. טרם בוצעה ביקורת נגישות חיצונית ובלתי תלויה על ידי מורשה נגישות מוסמך. ההצהרה תעודכן עם השלמתה.

ההתאמות שבוצעו באתר

האתר כולו ניתן לתפעול מלא באמצעות מקלדת בלבד, כולל גלילת הפיד הראשי (מקשי חצים, Page Up / Page Down, רווח, ו-Home לחזרה להתחלה).
סימון ברור וגלוי של האלמנט הממוקד בכל שלב, ומעבר פוקוס לפרויקט גולל אותו אל תוך המסך.
קישור "דילוג לתוכן" בראש העמוד, לעקיפת אזורי ניווט חוזרים.
כל הכפתורים, הקישורים והפריטים הלחיצים מוגדרים בתפקיד הסמנטי הנכון ובעלי שם נגיש שנקרא על ידי קוראי מסך.
טקסט חלופי לכל התמונות והסרטונים באתר.
חלונות קופצים (צור קשר, הגדלת תמונה) נסגרים במקש Esc, לוכדים את הפוקוס בזמן שהם פתוחים, ומחזירים את הפוקוס למקום שממנו נפתחו.
הכרזה קולית לקוראי מסך על כל מעבר בין מסכי האתר, שכן האתר אינו טוען עמוד מחדש בעת ניווט.
יחסי ניגודיות של 4.5:1 ומעלה לכל הטקסטים, ו-3:1 ומעלה לרכיבי ממשק.
כיבוד הגדרת מערכת ההפעלה להפחתת תנועה (prefers-reduced-motion), וכן כפתור "Pause motion" לעצירת כל התנועה והווידאו באתר. הבחירה נשמרת גם לביקורים הבאים.
סימון שפה נכון לתוכן שאינו באנגלית, כדי שקורא מסך יהגה אותו נכון.
ניתן להגדיל את התצוגה עד 200% ולהציגה ברוחב של 320 פיקסלים, ללא אובדן תוכן או תפקוד.
האתר נבדק בדפדפנים Chrome, Safari ו-Firefox, בגרסאות מחשב ונייד.

מגבלות נגישות ידועות

הטקסט החלופי של תמונות העבודות מזהה את הפרויקט ואת מיקום התמונה בתוכו, אך אינו כולל תיאור מילולי מפורט של תוכן כל תמונה. השלמת התיאורים נמצאת בתהליך.
מסך הפתיחה של האתר הוא קובץ אנימציה שבו שם האתר מעוצב כגרפיקה. שם זה זמין גם כטקסט לקוראי מסך, ומסך הפתיחה מדולג אוטומטית עבור משתמשים שביקשו הפחתת תנועה.
סרטוני העבודות באתר הם קטעי וידאו ללא פס קול, ולפיכך אינם כוללים כתוביות. לכל קטע קיים תיאור טקסטואלי.
חלק מהעבודות מוצגות בפריסה חזותית. התוכן זמין במלואו גם דרך מסך ה"Index View", המציג את כל הפרויקטים כרשימה מסודרת וממוספרת.
